About Symmetrian

Empowering patient-centred research

Symmetrian was born from a clear and urgent need: to streamline and enhance patient involvement in research and other health-related initiatives. Recognising the challenges faced by researchers in finding suitable patient partners and the difficulties Patient Organisations encounter in connecting with research initiatives, we set out to create a unified, accessible, and patient-led platform.

Driven by patients, guided by expertise

Symmetrian is a testament to the power of patient-driven innovation: it is powered, developed, and led by patients, ensuring that every aspect reflects the needs and perspectives of the patient community.

The platform is the product of a patient-led consortium, coordinated by the European Patient Advocacy Institute (EPAI), and supported by the Acute Leukaemia Advocates Network (ALAN), Childhood Cancer International – Europe (CCI), Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE), and Patvocates. EPAI leads the project’s management, acting as the bridge between our technical partners, Naru Intelligence (specialized in biomedical software), and our users.

Together, we bring a wealth of experience and dedication to ensuring Symmetrian delivers on its promise of meaningful patient involvement.

Our supporters

Driven by purpose

Symmetrian is made possible through the generous funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Rising Tide Foundation for Clinical Cancer Research (RTFCCR). This has allowed us to develop and operate the platform without commercial influence, ensuring our focus remains on patient empowerment and research excellence.
